Seriously. Can you believe it?

He’s done this to go peepee once before (the other day), but this is the first time that he has ever done something like this. It’s incredible. We are so proud.

Today, Josiah turns three-years old…

It appears that Josiah’s second year was pretty poorly documented here on the blog. So many things have gone on this year, that it’s been hard to keep up. Not only has Josiah grown a lot (as evidenced by the photo below), but he’s gone through several mental and emotional developments as well. Not only that, but the family has gone through a lot as a whole too (like in November when Daddy got to begin trying his hand at being Mr. Mom). Nevertheless, we never stopped taking pictures and recording videos. Our documentation — though hidden from the public eye — has continued on.

It is amazing that Josiah is already three. He’s become so independent. He’s a good helper. He’s sweet and kind and polite. He loves meeting and being with people. He’s really an amazing little kid…

Most of the time.

I can also tell you that he can throw tantrums that would knock the socks off of the most seasoned parents. And, boy, can he be mean.

But, that’s what growing up is all about, right? Most of the time, Josiah is pretty special (as everyone he knows will tell you). Other times? Well, we’ll just call them learning experiences.

We love our little guy. He’s just as much a friend to us as he is our son.

We ordered the “medium” version, but for some reason they sent us the “large.” He’ll definitely grow into it, though… He hasn’t really taken to sitting on it all of the time, but we’re sure he will. In any case, he needed a smaller chair that he could lounge in. Looks like this will do the job just fine.

What’s a “When I’m older”? You know, those things that kids say they’re going to do when they get older. In Josiah’s case, this might sound like, “When I’m older, I will ride a bike.” He usually says it with a very serious look on his face and a dramatic nod of the head.

Anyway, we thought it would be fun to start documenting some of these things. These are all things that he’s actually said.

When I’m older…

It was quite a shame. After eating dinner at Manny’s, we walked down to the First Friday festivities. We had just watched the woman who paints herself silver and acts like a statue — when Josiah gave her a dollar, she moved and startled him: it was pretty funny. Then, we moved on to watch a band play. Josiah was having a blast. Then it happened. While Josiah was balancing on a tire stop in the parking lot where the band was playing, he tried to jump off (special thanks to Dad’s goading). When Josiah did this, his shoe stuck to the concrete and, in that instant, he was face down on the parking lot. Much bleeding ensued.

Josiah was over it in about ten minutes, but he’s had quite a scabbed up face for the last few days — very sad.

Anyway, there have been so many developments since the last post: Josiah tells stories, he helps feed Indy the dog, he rides his tricycle all over the place, he’s got a trampoline…he makes coffee. Really. It’s great.

We’ve also gone to many events and fun things around the city: Crown Center stuff, the circus, etc. We’ve really ended the summer on a high note. (Well, except for that little scrape up there.)
